Women in Construction Spotlight: LaQuita Campbell

As we enter 2023, we reflect on our growth and look towards the future all with our most important asset in mind – our people. Our people are the reason for our success and they work every day to achieve our vision. LaQuita Campbell, Assistant Project Manager for Keeley Paving, has been instrumental in helping our Paving Group reach new heights as the team expands across the country.

LaQuita joined the Keeley team at the end of 2021 after working many years in retail. She came into her role with an open mind and has utilized the resources that Keeley has to offer to help her grow personally and professionally as she learns the ins and outs of the industry. Her team has supported her every step of the way and has helped her grow into the Keeley’n she is today: empowered, motivated, and excited for the future.

“Having worked many years in retail, understanding Keeley’s mission statement empowers me to do what I do best – providing A+ customer service at all times. Here at Keeley, I’m encouraged to use my past managerial and customer service skills to make difficult and results-driving decisions for the growth of the business.”

LaQuita has always worked in customer service, dealing with complaints, selling new products, and tracking consumer spending habits and sales trends. She realized that she needed a change and she loves working with her hands and learning new things every day. Her sister-in-law got a job at another local St. Louis construction company and she realized that construction might be the right fit. She found Keeley and the rest is history! However, she knew that entering a male-dominated industry came with challenges and stereotypes, but her Keeley team members have been welcoming, willing to help teach and train her, and respectful since day one. Given her wonderful experience thus far, if LaQuita could give a piece of advice to women starting out in the industry, it would be:

“If you have a passion for it, go for it. The world is changing and we must be up for the challenge to help make that change. We can’t expect anything to be different if we are not willing to be a part of it.”

LaQuita is incredibly grateful that she found Keeley. Over the past year and a half, she has learned so much, but she has absolutely loved learning the business and doing business the KeeleyWay. The KeeleyWay really resonates with her and she is excited to keep growing in her role while being part of the company’s growth. She cannot wait to be a strong leader in the future.
