Women in Construction Spotlight: Kaliope Alatorre

Our Arizona team is growing rapidly, providing Paving and Industrial services to customers across the region. Our people are the backbone of what we do and we strive to provide them with the tools and resources they need to grow their career and achieve their vision. Kaliope Alatorre, Project Coordinator, works to keep our projects running smoothly, exceeding expectations every single time.

Kaliope joined the Keeley family as an Office Coordinator in our Phoenix office, assisting the team with anything they needed. After two years and two promotions, Kaliope now serves as a Project Coordinator. She has always loved exploring, growing, and helping where needed and she took advantage of Keeley’s incredible growth to advance her career and learn more about the industry. When Kaliope joined Keeley, the construction industry was completely new to her. However, thanks to KeeleyU, her supervisors, and support from her team members, she has felt incredibly empowered to learn and grow.

“I feel so empowered every day when I come to work. Now that I have more knowledge about the industry, I can accomplish my work every day. I have also gained the confidence I need to succeed and exceed expectations.”

Kaliope’s husband is the main reason she joined Keeley, but she was excited to join a new industry that has so much to offer. It was definitely a little intimidating joining a male-dominated industry, but now that she is in it, she loves the challenge, and it pushes her to be strong and confident while knowing she is capable of accomplishing anything she puts her mind to. It has been an amazing journey and Kaliope wants other women to know that they have a place and a voice in this industry. So, if she could give one piece of advice to those women, it would be:

“Knowledge is power, especially in industries where women are underrepresented. We are strong and smart enough to accomplish anything we want.”

Keeley Construction has become a true career destination for Kaliope and she cannot wait to see what the future holds for her. Her vision for the future includes being successful in her personal and professional life, putting into practice all the lessons she has learned, and living out Keeley’s core values. She would not be where she is today without her leaders and team teaching her and guiding her. She wants to be able to teach new team members one day, especially those in the Hispanic community, showing them that no matter where you come from and how hard it can get at times, if you dream it you can achieve it.
