Women in Construction Spotlight: Sarah Becker

The L. Keeley Paving Group is the foundation of what L. Keeley Construction is today. Still a family-owned company, but now with a nation-wide footprint, the Paving Group shows no signs of slowing down. Sarah Becker, Account Manager for the Paving Group, understands that this rapid growth brings challenges of its own and she is ready to take advantage of every opportunity it brings.
Since her journey with L. Keeley began, Sarah believes that she has found her career destination. She started as an Assistant Account Manager and through hard work and dedication, she is now an Account Manager for one of the Paving Group’s largest accounts. Sarah’s career growth is a direct result of her willingness to exceed expectations. She feels that her team trusts and values her, knowing that she will do what it takes to get the job done and done right. She also knows that she is heard and that her opinions and feedback matter to her entire team.
Sarah grew up in a construction family and saw how rewarding it was when her family members’ hard work paid off. This, along with constant challenges and opportunities for growth, made Sarah want to join the construction industry. However, this decision also meant she was also joining a male-dominated industry. It was challenging at first, but after years of experience, Sarah has come to know and embrace that she is a valuable asset to any team and that her strengths will help take her team and her work to the next level. If she could give one piece of advice to women just starting out in the industry, it would be:
“I would encourage females within the industry to speak up and view yourself as an equal. Don’t be afraid to challenge the ‘normal’ and work together with your team to help provide the best end product for your customers.”
L. Keeley’s rapid growth has Sarah excited for not only her future, but her team’s future. She is most looking forward to the continuous growth of L. Keeley and is excited to evolve with the company, and provide the highest quality services to exceed customer expectations and surpass their goals. Throughout her time at L. Keeley, Sarah has loved how her team, and L. Keeley as a whole, treats each other as family. The family-oriented culture has taught her a lot of valuable lessons, but she will tell you that the most important lesson she has learned is:
