LKC Building Spotlight: Mascoutah High School

The L. Keeley Building Group’s education portfolio continues to grow with the addition of the Mascoutah High School Athletic Fields Renovation Project. The Building Group was approached by the Mascoutah High School Athletics Department for some much-needed updates and renovations to a variety of their athletic facility’s amenities. The project started in May 2020 and the team worked tirelessly throughout the summer to ensure that the entire athletics facility was updated and ready for use.

L. Keeley self-performed all steel work by utilizing the talents of our Industrial Group. The Industrial Group installed the Mascoutah entrance sign and set steel for the ticket booths, concession stand addition, and flag poles. When it was time to install the sign, made by Martin Steel, the team used a crane to lower it into place and only needed one day to set it, thus keeping the project on-track.

Along with revamping the entrance with a new, state-of-the-art sign and two brick ticket booths, the L. Keeley team also completed an addition to the existing concession stand and relocated the shot put, discus, and long jump areas. While relocating existing long jump, the team also added in an additional long jump run to accommodate Mascoutah’s growing athletics teams. The L. Keeley team also constructed six brand new tennis courts in the school’s colors of purple and gray with added space for spectators.

When Mascoutah High School was originally constructed in 1868, a school bell was placed on the campus. The original bell was then mounted in 1968 and during this project, L. Keeley moved it and placed it on a brick platform so it could be seen at the entrance.
