St. Francis Mausoleum
Phoenix, AZ
The Keeley Construction team completely gutted the interior finishes and replaced everything with updated finishes, all lighting from fluorescent to LED, remodeled restrooms, and added a reflecting pool to the middle of the interior space at the mausoleum. The team also performed exterior upgrades, including resurfacing concrete floors and refreshing everything within and outside the exterior courtyard. Keeley proudly served as the General Contractor on this 48,000 SF project. Due to this project taking place at a mausoleum, very customized materials were needed, causing a few minor challenges. The original structure was built in the 1970s as a concrete shell building, so little modification can be done. However, the Keeley team brought creative solutions to the table in order to meet the vision of modernizing the space. Another challenge the team faced was the swelling and cracking of existing wood wall panels due to the centralized evaporative cooler system. However, instead of just patching over the problem, the Keeley team opted to address the main issue and reinstall moisture rated material that would stand up better in the conditions on site. This included adding moisture resistant wood veneer wall panels and backing, moisture resistant drywall, and epoxy coated cast iron plumbing lines.
